Spruced up the previously-shown layout a bit and put in the animation for the scene. This is the first possibly-completed shot in the film, depending on some decisions. Pumped to keep working on this film!
Another load of life drawing highlights from last semester. We experimented with mediums a lot, including ink and pastels. See the rest after the break.
Last year one of our assignments was the Wave, Boat, and Sack animation. I liked the effects animation in that pencil test, so I cleaned it up for my demo reel (after doing some fixes, restaging, and replacing the sack with a character). Went for a much flatter, primary style to get some variety in my cleanups styles,
This month is full of animation tests on our Third Year Film characters and effects. My assignment was a walk cycle for Mort, our lead character, which conveyed a depressed, defeated attitude. I decided to clean and paint it for my demo reel.
The layout is also mine, based on a shot I designed for the boards. In the film, Mort won't walk here. Instead the camera will pan east to him sitting at his desk, which is why the lighting and composition focus there. Here's the full background:
Demo reel coming soon! In the mean time fixing/cleaning/painting/compositing some old pencil tests. Here's a finished version of a bear walk cycle I did two years ago.
Missed a few updates! Most of my work recently has been for our group film Mort, and I don't want to post much of that, for spoilers. But here's a piece I did during the visual development of our film. Part of that process included presenting a few scene mockups - a frame from the storyboard, completely cleaned and coloured, as an example of what we want the film to look like.
I really like how this mockup turned out. It was a difficult style to find (mainly established by another very talented artist in our group) and maintain. The shot composition itself is one I designed for the storyboard.
